Genesis Health Care, Inc. is a family owned and operated business that operates six licensed RCFE’s located in the beautiful cities of La Verne, Claremont, and Alta Loma. Since opening in 1999 we have cared for hundreds of seniors and given their families the peace and security of knowing their loved ones are well cared for.
Gerry Markie has been a registered nurse since 1967 and has worked in various hospital, clinical, and home health settings. She has worked at both San Antonio Regional Hospital and Pomona Valley Hospital and for various home health companies.
She has taught nursing and is Medi-Care certified to do psychiatric nursing. Her love of the geriatric population led her to open Genesis Manor in 1999 located in northern Alta Loma. After spending years visiting larger assisted living facilities she felt she could “do it better” in a smaller, more home-like setting.
Gerry and her team has extensive experience caring for seniors with dementia, Alzheimer’s, COPD, stroke, heart conditions, Parkinson’s, and diabetes among other conditions. Gerry was recently chosen as a “Woman of Distinction” by the California Senate and Assembly in April 2012 for her work in the community and has been written up in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin on numerous occasions. Gerry brings compassion, care, experience, and an essential nursing background to Genesis Manor and the care of its residents.
Marya Alpert R.N., Gerry’s daughter, has been working for Genesis since 2006. Her nursing background and clinical experience help provide the best care for our residents. Marya has hospital experience working at San Antonio Regional Hospital.
David Markie R.N., Gerry’s son, has been working for Genesis since 2009. He also has his business degree from California State University Fullerton. David also has hospital experience working at San Antonio Regional Hospital.
Alaina Hendrick M.S.N., Gerry’s daughter, also joined the company in 2017. She brings experience working in hospice as well as working at San Antonio Regional Hospital.
